    Get PDF
This dissertation investigates high frequency devices and circuit modules for biochemical microsystems. These modules are designed towards replacing external bulky laboratory instruments and integrating with biochemical microsystems to generate and analyze signals in frequency and time domain. The first is a charge pump circuit with modified triple well diodes, which is used as an on-chip power supply. The second is an on-chip pulse generation circuit to generate high voltage short pulses. It includes a pulse-forming-line (PFL) based pulse generation circuit, a Marx generator and a Blumlein generator. The third is a six-port circuit based on four quadrature hybrids with 2.0~6.0 GHz operating frequency tuning range for analyzing signals in frequency domain on-chip. The fourth is a high-speed sample-and-hold circuit (SHC) with a 13.3 Gs/s sampling rate and ~11.5 GHz input bandwidth for analyzing signals in time domain on-chip. The fifth is a novel electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy with high-sensitivity and wide frequency tuning range

In this paper, 14 publicly reported actual cases reflecting antagonistic conflicts between entrepreneurs and investors are chosen, and a grounded theory approach is adopted to collect and analyze the original data of cases. Total of 108 concepts, 23 sub-categories, 6 main categories, and a core category of “driving factors of evolution of antagonistic conflicts” are obtained, and the model of driving factors of evolution of antagonistic conflicts between entrepreneurs and investors is constructed. This research shows that: (1) divergence of strategic objective, divergence of control right allocation, divergence of interests and moral hazard are the direct driving factors of antagonistic conflict evolution; (2) individual perceptions of both entrepreneurs and investors are the mediating driving factor of antagonistic conflict evolution; (3) antagonistic response is the situational driving factor of antagonistic conflict evolution. Finally, suggestions for preventing and resolving antagonistic conflicts between entrepreneurs and investors are provided according to the study. Towards Knowledge-Based Personalized Product Description Generation in E-commerce

Quality product descriptions are critical for providing competitive customer experience in an e-commerce platform. An accurate and attractive description not only helps customers make an informed decision but also improves the likelihood of purchase. However, crafting a successful product description is tedious and highly time-consuming. Due to its importance, automating the product description generation has attracted considerable interests from both research and industrial communities. Existing methods mainly use templates or statistical methods, and their performance could be rather limited. In this paper, we explore a new way to generate the personalized product description by combining the power of neural networks and knowledge base. Specifically, we propose a KnOwledge Based pErsonalized (or KOBE) product description generation model in the context of e-commerce. In KOBE, we extend the encoder-decoder framework, the Transformer, to a sequence modeling formulation using self-attention. In order to make the description both informative and personalized, KOBE considers a variety of important factors during text generation, including product aspects, user categories, and knowledge base, etc. Experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed method out-performs the baseline on various metrics. KOBE can achieve an improvement of 9.7% over state-of-the-arts in terms of BLEU. We also present several case studies as the anecdotal evidence to further prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The framework has been deployed in Taobao, the largest online e-commerce platform in China.Comment: KDD 2019 Camera-ready. Website: https://sites.google.com/view/kobe201

High Sensitivity Tunable Radio Frequency Sensors

Highly sensitive and tunable RF sensors that provide detection and analysis of single cells and particles are provided. The tunable RF sensors are configured as tunable interferometers, wherein cells or particles to be analyzed are passed through a channel, such as a microfluidic channel, across waveguides corresponding to reference and test branches of the interferometers. A network analyzer coupled to the interferometers can be configured to measure a plurality of scattering parameters, such as transmission scattering coefficients (S.sub.21) of the reference and test branches, to evaluate characteristics of cells passing through the channel. A plurality of tunable interferometers may be employed, each interferometer operating in different frequency bands such that information obtain from the plurality of interferometers may be combined to provide further information
